Annual Holiday Party Planning!
Attention Crew! You know what time it is. Tinsel and cookies and gaudy inflatable lawn decorations. Decorated trees, presents, and throwing snowballs at carollers. Best of all... time for gathering together with the best crew in the 'Fleet to share food, festivities, and the joy of the season.

Scheduling our annual holiday party might be a bit of a challenge this year. Here's where it stands for me, at least...

This Saturday is just too damned soon. That's the 10th. And I'm busy the 11th. This weekend just won't work.

Saturday the 17th is Longest Night Ball at Gaia Community Church. It's NOT a religious event. It's simply a festive, formal dance with costumes to celebrate the longest night of the year. All are welcome, regardless of whether they're members of Gaia Community. (And seriously, it's an awesome time.) However, not only am I attending with my Trophy Wife, but several other members of the crew are attending the ball. And then Sunday the 18th... is the last weekend shopping day before Christmas weekend itself. YEAH. NO.

On Christmas, I'm sure many of us will be busy with our families, religious obligations, and so on. That weekend is out.

Then... there's New Year's Eve Weekend. NYE falls on Saturday night. Are you thinking what I'm thinking?  :D

My Trophy Wife has proposed the following:

The USS Macchiato convenes at the Captain's House around mid-afternoon (maybe 3:00 or 4:00 PM) for our official crew holiday party. There shall be pot-luck, gift exchange, and so on. I'm baking a turkey. You guys bring the trimmings. Later in the evening, other friends who are not crew members may arrive for general New Year's Eve. The theme of the whole night would be formal-dress or formal-costume. Wear something nice, or bring something nice to change into for the second half of the evening. This would be the Macchiato Crew Gettin' Fancy. We'd have a champagne toast at midnight.

Besides, what could be better than ringing in the New Year with the most epic crew to explore the galaxy the Midwest?

The other option: Party on January 7th, but it probably couldn't be at my house, OR it couldn't be late at night. I'd have a million things to do, as I'd be leaving on vacation during the week that week. Basic holiday party. I'll still bake a turkey. We'll still have epic good times. Still do the Yankee Swap. Just no epic New Year's festivities. If it's at my house, we'd start the party around 2:00 PM, and finish no later than 10:00 PM. Alternately, we can hold it at burnmybody's place if we want to party later into the night.

The weekend of the 14th and 15th, I'll be out of town, and I don't really want to push the holiday party later than that anyway.

LOL... well, seeing as this IS a costume (or fancy-clothes) party, maybe having an RP character RSVP is appropriate. Do you have any costumes for that character? :D

And yay cupcakes or cookies!

I could dress like her, but I'd just be wearing longer sleeves than usual... Which feels like cheating somehow.
